The Parliament of Turks and Caicos Islands
The Parliament of the Turks and Caicos Islands stands at the centre of the country’s parliamentary democracy. Its roots date back to the first recorded elections in 1797, when representatives were chosen to help make local decisions for the Islands.
Today, the Parliament, located in Grand Turk, serves as the country’s unicameral legislature under the Constitution of the Turks and Caicos Islands. Elected Members, the Attorney General, and the Speaker come together to debate national issues, pass laws, and hold the Government to account. Through this work, Parliament continues to uphold representation, good governance, and the democratic development of the Turks and Caicos Islands.
