Parliament Staff
The Parliamentary Staff
The staff of the Parliament of the Turks and Caicos Islands play a vital role in supporting the effective operation of Parliament and strengthening democratic governance. Working under the leadership of the Clerk to Parliament, parliamentary staff provide professional, impartial, and non-partisan support to the Speaker, Members of Parliament, parliamentary committees, and the institution as a whole.
The Parliamentary Administration is responsible for ensuring that parliamentary business is conducted efficiently and in accordance with the Constitution, Standing Orders, and established parliamentary practices. Staff provide procedural advice, coordinate sittings and committee meetings, prepare agendas and official documents, maintain parliamentary records, and support the legislative process from the introduction of Bills through to their passage and publication.
In addition to supporting parliamentary proceedings, staff are responsible for a wide range of administrative and public engagement functions. These include managing parliamentary communications, maintaining the Parliament's website and public information resources, facilitating public access to parliamentary proceedings, organising official events and visits, and supporting civic education initiatives aimed at increasing public understanding of Parliament and its work.
Parliamentary staff also play an important role in preserving the institutional memory of Parliament through the maintenance of official records, Hansard reports, legislative archives, committee reports, and historical documents. Their work helps ensure transparency, accountability, and public confidence in the parliamentary process.
Through their professionalism, integrity, expertise, and dedication to public service, the staff of Parliament contribute significantly to the effective functioning of the institution and support Parliament in carrying out its constitutional responsibilities on behalf of the people of the Turks and Caicos Islands.
